Have You Got The Right Information On Your Business Cards?

have you got the right information on your business cards

Your business card can be the perfect way to hand over the essential information about who you are and what you do. It can do a lot of marketing and networking for you as long as you have included the right details. You need to make sure that you have the right information on your business cards and that it is current and accurate.

Company Cards

The basic information that must be on your company business cards are simply the business name and contact details. You don’t have to include every means of contact, just the ones that you would prefer people to use. This might be a physical address for a shop, a phone number, website, email address, or even a social network profile. You can also include an image, company logo or a short slogan or description of what you do, just make sure that you keep the card simple.

Personal Business Cards

If you are creating a personal business card or cards for each employee, the information you include will need to be a little bit different. You will still need to include your company name and logo, but you should also have your own name and job title on the card. The contact details you include should also be for contacting you directly, so include your email, extension, or mobile number.

Some people like to include a photo of themselves on their business cards and this can work well when there is a good reason for it being there. If you are handing out your card to new people at a networking event or you run a business that will involve a lot of face to face contact, a photo can be appropriate. However, if you are sending cards to customers who you won’t usually see in person, including a photo might not be worthwhile.

Adding Extras

Your business card can hold a lot more than just this basic information. It is important not to try to do too much in the small space offered by a card, but it can sometimes make sense to include some extras to help your card stand out and achieve its purpose. You could add a QR code to link people to a company video or to your own online CV. You could include a discount code so that you can track the success of your marketing efforts at an event. You could even add some useful information, such as a calendar of industry events or useful figures, on the back of the card to turn it into a handy reference tool for people to keep.

Although it can be tempting to keep adding to the design, it is important not to get carried away. Every element of your business card design should have a reason for being there and it should contribute to the overall message you are trying to convey. It is also important not to underestimate the value of blank space. Not only can it help to keep your design simple, but it can also provide room for jotting down personal messages or extra details when you hand over a card.
